TOYATA LAND CRUISER

The Toyota Land Cruiser was redesigned for 2008. Known as the 200 Series, it will share the 2008 Lexus LX's platform and overall design. Though many time-honored Land Cruiser supporters have welcomed the re-invigoration of the mechanical aspects of the vehicle, the 200 Series has encountered criticism due to its controversial body restyling, with some claiming that Toyota has 'overdeveloped' the classic trademarked Land Cruiser identity in its efforts to fit the Land Cruiser in to modern 21st century motoring. Toyota presented its completely redesigned Land Cruiser in October at the 2007 Australian International Motor Show in Sydney. The vehicle entered production in September and was available for sale in November 2007. Although the new Land Cruiser was presented at its first motor show in Sydney, it was already on sale in Japan, launched there in September 2007. It also became available in Venezuela for sale early in November under the local nickname of "Roraima" (Taken from Monte Roraima in Venezuela). The limited edition Aston Martin one-77

Just one hundred will be made, and according to Aston Martin, they have already sold out. Price? £1.2 million. That is British pounds, so around $2 million US, depending on the exchange rate. With a 7.0 liter V12 engine, aluminum body and carbon fiber chassis, the one77 should out-perform just about everything else on the road, and makes the Bugatti Veyron, the previous holder of the most-expensive car record look almost cheap. Bigger, faster, more expensive seems to be the theme of this year’s Paris Motor Show, and here is a small selection of photographs of new and up-dated models.

LeBlanc Mirabeau $645,084

Mirabeau is the newest car from Wysstec GmbH and Leblanc cars. It’s a new proposal for a racecar and prepared to FIA/Le Mans standards .The fact that it is street legal, is almost unbelievable. To reach the maximum of lightweight building and race feeling the car interior is optimized for maximum of speed and acceleration. There are some special options, including leather interior and a sequential gearbox. Power comes from Koenigsegg’s V8, the same engine found in the CCR. It is equipped with a Lysholm Screw Compressor, which has several advantages to the common centrifugal compressor.

The Pagani Zonda

The Pagani Zonda is a supercar produced by Pagani in Italy. It debuted in 1999 and continues through the present, with production proceeding at roughly 25 cars per year. As of December, 2005, 60 Zondas had been built. It is a mid-engined 2-seat coupe and convertible. Construction is mainly of carbon fiber. The Zonda Roadster F debuted at the 2006 Geneva show. It is similar to the coupe, but with a removable carbon fibre roof and canvas side curtains weighing just 11 lb (5 kg). Production of the Roadster F is suggested at 25 units. The Roadster F is able to maintain chassis rigidity without any gain in curb weight by eschewing conventional thinking by not strengthening the sills – a process which would have needed more than 35 kg of reinforcement. Pagani instead uses racecar thinking, materials and construction techniques, strengthening the firewall structure of the chassis tub together with billet alloy braces that connect the points where the roof rails would have joined. The windscreen is also strengthened for safety reasons. These techniques enable the Roadster to have virtually the same weight as the coupe – 1230 kg (2712 lb).

The Bugatti Veyron 16.4 is currently the most expensive street-legal full production car in the world, with in excess of 1001 horsepower, in either the metric or SAE scale, with its top speed of 253.81 mph (408.47 km/h). The Bugatti Veyron reached full production in September 2005. The car is built by Volkswagen AG subsidiary Bugatti Automobiles SAS in its Molsheim (Alsace, France) factory and is sold under the French Bugatti marque. It is named after French racing driver Pierre Veyron, who won the 24 hours of Le Mans in 1939 while racing for the original Bugatti firm. After the release of the car, it has been reported that while each Veyron is being sold for $1.2 million, the production costs of the car are approximately £5 million per vehicle. This is not the price to produce one vehicle, but rather the cost of the entire Veyron project divided by the number of vehicles produced at that time. As Bugatti, and therefore Volkswagen, are making such a loss, it has been likened by automotive journalist Jeremy Clarkson and his Top Gear programme team in their story on it to the Concorde, in that both were huge achievements, but the car will probably, like the plane before it, be discontinued after proving to be an economic failure.

The Ascari KZ1R is a super car that cost around 225,000 British pounds. With 520 horsepower at 7250 rpm, it can reach 60 mph from stand still point in 3.3 secs and 0-100 in 8.2 seconds.

The Alfa Romeo GT is being manufactured by Alfa Romeo Automobiles from the year 2004 continues to the present day. It is a sports car which was built based on Alfa Romeo 156. A number of mechanical systems are taken from the 156 and the suspensions are taken from the Alfa Romeo 147. Also, the GT is a luxurious Grand Tourer among the other Alfa Romeo series. The Zenvo ST1 is manufactured by Zenvo Automotive, which is built in a Danish design. The design of the 2009 Zenvo ST1 is a hand built supercar, which will be manufactured to a limited edition, where 15 cars would be available to selected customers. The plans behind this car are to build a high performance car, challenging the present day supercars. The car consists of an extreme power which is due to turbo and supercharger that is suitable for daily use. With 1104 horsepower, the Zenvo ST1 can accelerates from 0-60 in 3.0 seconds and reach a top speed of 233 mph.

TOKYO — Honda is successfully campaigning its NSX coupe (Acura NSX in the U.S.) at the GT championship in Japan. Now it is translating the victories to street cred with the introduction of a special-edition model based on the GT racer. The NSX-R GT is guaranteed to be exclusive: Only five will be built and each will cost a cool half-million.Technically, there's not much difference from the normal NSX-R; it's powered by the same 280-horsepower, 3.2-liter V6. However, there are a few carbon-fiber parts, which guarantees better handling and makes the car look like a Transformer: a huge air intake behind the rear window in 1970s racer style, a front apron and an underbody diffuser.

This is the world's most expensive and fastest production car ever made. Dedicated to the Bugatti Atlantique 57S from the 1930's, with a proven top speed of over 400 km/h, Sang Noir's most obvious features is an all-black exterior featuring exposed carbon fibre sections. Sang Noir translates to 'Black Blood' a rather ominous and foreboding name for your new multi-million dollar super car. This is the most expensive Prado you can buy. That means it's also the most expensive Japanese medium-sized 4WD wagon, outstripping the Mitsubishi Pajero and making the Nissan Pathfinder look like exceptional value. Toyota's reputation for quality and 4WD ability helps it get away with that. The expected equipment requirements are fulfilled for the most part, but the Grande like all Prados suffers in terms of interior functionality. Well it is now official, GM and Corvette have just released details of how much the new 2009 Corvette ZR1 will cost. You had better sit down because the cost of the sports coupe will have a starting price of $103,300. However; you then have to consider that you have to pay an extra $1,700 Gas guzzler tax, if you are bored with the standard rims then you can upgrade to chrome wheels, this comes at a cost of $2000.
If you want to upgrade to a different option package then you only have a choice of one, the package costs $10,000 and with that you get Bluetooth, Bose audio, leather-wrapped interior, nav system and power tilt/telescoping steering wheel. With all these extras included the total price comes to $117,000. BMW has announced the UK prices for the 2007 BMW M6 Convertible: £86400, that’s arround $163000. This price makes the new M6 Convertible the costliest BMW it has ever benn sold. The m6 Convertible has a V10 engine delivering 507 hp and a maximum torque of 383 lbs-ft at 6100 rpm. It sprints from 0 to 60 mph in just 4.8 sedonds and has a top speed of 155 mph. And still we can not wonder why does it have this price? Yes it is a BMW and it is the heal of a car, but still...

BMW’s Mini to expand U.S.

Mini is bolstering dealer ranks as it endures a 21 percent drop in U.S. sales of its small cars this year through May. Last year, gasoline prices that rose to a record in July contributed to a 29 percent jump in the brand’s deliveries. Mini’s decline so far in 2009 came as sales tumbled 37 percent for the industry and 29 percent for BMW including its namesake brand.Sales for Mini starting in 2011 will rise by “double- digit” percentages from last year’s 54,077 cars, McDowell said. He declined to be more specific.BMW has sold Mini cars in the U.S. since 2002. The Munich- based company will now grant Mini franchises to dealers other than those of its BMW brand, contrary to its previous policy. BMW’s U.S. headquarters in is Woodcliff Lake, New Jersey.

2009 Lotus Evora won “Overall Most Rated Car 2008”

2009 Lotus Evora was awarded by iMotor Magazine as the “Overall Most Rated Car of 2008”. In every issue of iMotor (which has an ABCe of 108,600), readers have been ‘rating’ and ‘slating’ the cars featured; and out of 40,000 votes counted, 95 per cent of voters rated the Lotus Evora, compared to just 5 per cent slating it making the new 2+2 the most highly rated car in 2008 by iMOTOR readers.Mike Kimberley, CEO of Group Lotus plc, is delighted with the award, “This award from iMotor readers is particularly special as it demonstrates that we have produced a car that already has a fan base amongst the cognoscenti, despite the car being a few months away from the sale date in the spring.”

Mitsubishi’s Too-Cute EV Rolls Out This Year

It’s official: Mitsubishi’s adorable i-MiEV electric car hits the streets of Japan this year, and the automaker says the Lilliputian runabout is “the pioneer that will open the door to the next 100 years of our automobile society.” That’s a tall order for so small a car, especially one with a price tag approaching $50,000. But Mitsubishi firmly believes the i-MiEV will help usher in the era of electric cars. It hails the i-MiEV as “the ultimate eco-car, a solution to the various challenges the automobile faces today.” Mitsubishi made the announcement late Thursday and timed it to coincide with World Environment Day.

The Ferrari 250 Testa Rossa is without question one of the most beautiful cars ever built, and a 1957 model sold for a record-setting $12.1 million. Ferrari built just 22 Scaglietti-designed Testa Rossas with the signature pontoon fenders between 1957 and 1958. It was a formidable racer - a 300 horsepower V12 and nimble handling will do that - and Testa Rossas won 10 of the 19 races they entered between 1958 and 1961. The car that sold Sunday wears chassis number 0714TR. It was the fourth Testa Rossa ever built and the second built for a customer. Piero Drago debuted the car in 1958 at the Buneos Aires 1000Km and took fourth place. Then it was off to the Havana Grand Prix, where Drago was in 13th place when race was halted following a fatal accident. Drago raced it one last time in the XII Circuito Internacional Vila Real in Portugal and then sold it to a Texan. No. 0714TR when through a series of owners who raced it, modified it, restored it and showed it over the years.No 9714TR was one of 32 Ferraris auctioned Sunday at the Ferrari Leggende d Passione in Maranello. The final bid of $12.1 million is the highest ever paid at a public auction, according to RM Auctions.
